i’ve been book blogging for quite a while now.
almost…. 2 and a half years? that’s, that’s a long time. (also please excuse the lack of capitalisation… i just…. can’t be bothered today haha)
in that time, i’ve met some incredible book bloggers who put in so much effort into posts and formatting, and today’s post is about celebrating that! marie and may are hosting the 2020 book blogger awards, and i’m nominating some people for categories ❤ i am limited to including book bloggers and it was hard to narrow down a list so please know that i adore everyone :)) you also might be nominated and yet i haven’t interacted with you in months…. i’m sorry? i’m awful at interacting, i’m going to be trying a bit harder from now on!!
*all of my links link to a recent favourite post, and i have nominated 7/16 small blogs at the time of writing. however, since then i think one blog may have reached 500 (congrats!!) so if they are counted, i have 6 small blogs, if not, 5 blogs which meets the criteria of 1/3 as i nominated 16 bloggers.. it’s technically 5.333 but i rounded it because i can’t nominate a third of a blog heh*
best of their age
best pre-teen/teen book blogger (13-19)
olivia @ purely olivia!! she is the embodiment of book blogging to me as a teen and just….. if i didn’t talk about her i don’t know what i’d be thinking!!!
she’s been around for a long time, and she’s been supporting me ever since i was a very small blogger (i still am, but i’m more experienced now at least?? i vaguely know what i’m doing?? most of the time at least….) she’s honestly the sweetest person ever and posts such beautiful things!!! you’re incredible ily
lais @ the bookish skies (under 500)!! lais could honestly fit into a couple of these categories – she’s so sweet and supportive, her posts are unique (where does she get these ideas i want some) and whenever i visit the bookish skies i know i’ll have a great time!!
(also the name. how cool is that name?!)
best adult book blogger (20+)
mandy and sha @ book princess reviews are two of the most experienced bloggers who run a truly idealistic blog – their design, posts, everything. their unique system and two different voices bring a beautiful meaning to joint blogging, and i know i’ll click off with more books than i know what to do with.
best genre bloggers
this is basically the only stuff i read so for all things YA, i love lily @ sprinkles of dreams!! she always has a new book to talk about (unlike me, who rants about the same ones over and over) and she talks about YA with so much passion ❤ thank you lily!!
(i would have come up with genre bloggers but… i don’t read many book review sites/blogs and picking would be weird for me)
best of book blogging
best book reviews
kaya @ a fictional bookworm reviews often and reviews with passion!!! i trust her opinion so much, and love her little ‘one liners’ in the post title!!
one of my favourite reviews was clap when you land, because it was so well written and coherent… while also being a fangirling mess. i love books in verse and so when she raved about it i knew it would be worthwhile.
best book recommendations
chloe @ marshmallow pudding (under 500) has the best recommendations!! her reviews and lists are a joy to read and i always walk away thinking ‘wow, i really need to read this’ <<<< about EVERY. SINGLE. BOOK. she does an excellent job at promoting them too 😉
best discussion posts
caitlin @ caitlin althea for SURE. her discussion posts have such interesting topics while also staying true to the point, and something i love is that she always finds a new angle. caitlin is such a sweet blogger, go show her all the love!!
this particular post was a personal favourite, and it covered so many topics while being concise… something i, uh, struggle to do.
best blog aesthetic
i cannot say anyone but maha @ sunshine n books (under 500) for this!! her featured images are so pretty, the blog design is minimalistic and sweet, and the sunshiney look matches the title and her personality!! (her posts are also incredible!!)
best blogging/writing voice
lu @ it’s lu again never fails to make me smile and laugh, and her posts are truly beautiful and fillde with humour and a style that is distinctly hers. i adore reading her posts and interacting with lu so much because i know i’ll have fun! keep doing what you’re doing luuu ❤ thank youuu
ash @ starlight strands (under 500) has been around for a while now before her new blog, but even then she was so kind and supportive. i saw her around here a bit, and at newer blogs, giving them some encouragement ❤ ash is so lovely and i would really recommend giving her blog a follow ❤
most engaged in the community
ilsa @ a whisper of ink is constantly around – i see her almost everywhere!! she leaves the kindest words and says such lovely things ❤ her posts are also a joy to read and her blog? the prettiest thing in existence.
most creative (creative/original posts)
kerys @ the everlasting library!!! literally i love her posts so much, and they’re so unique!! she’s read for 24 straight hours, done personality quizzes (which i asked to steal heh), and so much more. i simply adore reading her posts – they’re always a breath of fresh air and love.
i also simply adore nimika @ wordhaven (under 500) because… what isn’t to love. i stumbled across a few interviews she did, and then some ideas for tv adaptations.. i was hooked. she has so many excellent posts (and she caused my friend to want to read fence which led to a buddy read heh – we love recommendations!!) and she’s also lovely to
rant about aftg with scream with!! (her most recent post on romance lines in YA made me cry too. just a warning)
MAY MAY MAY MAY MAY MAY
i had to say may @ forever and everly for this – her posts are genuinely so full of personality and laughter, i look forward to every single post and know i’ll end up laughing. thank you for providing some light and love, and for giving us all quality content so often </3 you truly deserve this
friendliest member of the community
i have to say that chana and malka @ paper procrastinators (were under 500, now are over) are incredible!! they leave lovely long comments and are so friendly to chat with!! their posts are so frequent as well, and lovely to read whenever :DD
best at promoting diverse books
i feel like charlotte & anna @ reads rainbow are simply incredible at this. they have the best ones for queer books, but i find so many poc books that are just beautiful there too. whenever i go there, i find out what it’s like to have a TBR pile that doesn’t stop growing. their recent series, if you liked, try…, has the best recommendations for popular vs underhyped books/movies/tv/straight media, and so many of those match straight/white with queer/poc ❤ thank you for doing the hard work and helping us all be better readers and reviewers.
**NO NOMINATIONS, JUST ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS <3*
best overall book blogger
i’m not going to vote for this one – because i don’t interact much (i’m working on it – i wish i did more so any blog recs PLEASE i really want them!!) but i didn’t want to leave it off with no explanation :)) my two below are more acknowledgements than anything else
marie @ drizzle and hurricane books won this last year but i honestly cannot think of a better, more deserving winner. she is so kind and her posts are loved by many. thank you for all your hard work marie!!
may @ forever and everly also truly deserves this – for hosting, for always boosting diverse books from any genre, for working so hard at making forever and everly a beautiful space in words and design.
these two are the heart and soul of book blogging for me and i wish them nothing but the best in hosting and running the 2020 Book Blogger Awards </3
