The Stuck At Home Book Tag ft. Everything I’ve Been Obsessed With Doing Lately!

I’m so excited for this!!

I’ve been staying at home for months now – only going out for walks pretty much. I’m super happy for this – especially as I’m going back to school soon, so I won’t be staying at home. This is kinda my last chance to do it… I may as well make the most of it!!

what are you currently reading?

40148146._SY475_I’ve been not reading anything recently?? The last book I finished was Love From A-Z on audio – a really cute romcom that is also such an important read?? It talks about Islamophobia but also finding your one true love so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ go ahead and read it!!!

I feel like everyone is reading so much in quarantine and I’m… not. However, I do have a LOT of rereads for Pride planned for June so hopefully I can get into them soon!!

what’s your favourite can’t-leave-the-house activity?

Getting to stay in bed sleeping until half an hour before school starts!!! I love it!!!

No but for real the thing I’ve probably been doing the most is either online school or blogging? I have seven posts scheduled and I’ve basically written all my June content which is insane but I’m really proud!! (also I think the main reason I’ve been doing it is because I want nothing to do with the new editor that’s being forced upon us in a few days and I want to put off using it for as long as possible!!!)

I’ve also been watching Brooklyn 99 for the first time with my family and it’s hilarious!!! (We watched Die Hard the other night as a result of said show and wOW it was action packed and tense!!!) I just love all the characters so much and it can be kinda predictable but I still love it!!!

a book you’ve been meaning to read forever?

33158561I’ve heard so many good things about Anna Marie McLemore’s books and I’m desperate to read some!! I’ve found When The Moon Was Ours – is it 32620332._SY475_good?? The one I’m really wanting is Wild Beauty which just sounds so beautifully proud and unapologetic.

I also want to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo which seems like an excellent read!! I’ve seen so many raving reviews about it and I would LOVE to read it!!!

an intimidating book on your tbr?

11250317I am so scared of Strange the Dreamer, Song of Achilles, and The City of Brass because they’re all MASSIVE. I’ve seen so much praise for all of them though so I do WANT to read them….. I’m just scared!

Is it worth the pain? Should I try and suffer through? Will I actually like them????

top three priority books on your tbr?

44286258._SY475_I am desperate to get to The Henna Wars!!! I think I’ll really love it and I am struggling through the wait ❤ It sounds so good and it has so many things I like in books: enemies to lovers, f/f, sibling relationships…. I could go on.

49025767One that hasn’t come out YET but is still a top priority on my TBR is Darius the Great Deserves Better – sequel to my favourite, Darius the Great is Not Okay. I love love love his story so much and this sounds so good!!

52934919._SX318_SY475_Another that isn’t released yet is The Nobleman’s Guide To Scandals and Shipwrecks which is in the Montague Siblings trilogy!! Adrian – the long lost brother who’s kind of a replacement for Monty and Felicity – goes searching to convince the two siblings to come back. Chaos is sure to ensue.

Also I know I’ve already talked about these as ones I’m highly anticipating but I don’t care!!! I’m too enthusiastic about them!!!

recommend a short book?

17259690Since I can’t stop talking/thinking about it I’ll say The Foxhole Court (even though I 100% should NOT recommend it I mostly read medium sized books??) – it’s 230 pages… which I could’ve probably gotten through in an afternoon if I hadn’t read the audio?? TRK (in AFTG series) I read in a day, and then The King’s Men I read at night and then a couple chapters in the morning soooo….

You could get through that series in three days and never recover like me, is what I’m saying. I turned out fine after!!!! (She says as she constantly daydreams about the Foxes and basically, has not recovered and is 100% not fine.)

Also! It’s free on iBooks – something I only discovered after reading on Scribd – and then the second two books are like $2 so financially it is an excellent decision 😉 (also if you’re going to read it let me know cause I’m so tempted to reread it so not only would you find the next best book you’ve read, you would also be encouraging me to follow my dreams!!!)

There is so much wrong with the books, but if you can, read them and scream with me!! I am not okay!! (If you are going to read it, please know that there are some problematic parts in most of the book – and proceed with caution)

recommend a long book?

993C1461-BA58-4604-8AD5-C6EBE1F9BBB31176AF81-7924-44D7-AB0D-D098CBE1C5B1I am normally scared of long books so much!! I don’t tend to read too many…

I guess Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom are pretty long – 496 and 546 respectively. And we all know how much I love those so…. that?

10/10 love that duology and trust me, it is worth the 500 pages. (Is that even counted as long??)

something you’d love to do while stuck at home?

I wish I was reading more – especially audiobooks – but unfortunately not!! I think it’s because I haven’t had anything to read but I’m building up for next month I guess?

For something non-bookish, I’d love to be taking longer walks I think. At the moment I’m clocking in at about 4km (!!!) a day but I do the same loop and I’ve been wanting to extend it a little I think!!! I just started doing a circuit with my mum as well recently which has been fun-ish? It’s a core workout and it’s not super amazing but I’m getting better!!

Screen Shot 2020-05-23 at 9.38.16 AM

what do you plan on reading next?

041A1C87-3ACD-4048-B120-9B5B2AE46F66I’m planning to reread Ari and Dante on the 1st of June!! Even though I only reread it at the end of March I’m desperate to cry again so thanks Lu for the encouragement!!!

After that my entire month of June is planned to be Pride rereads so this should be fun!! (I’m also rereading TFC in July because SOMEONE keeps tempting me to)

Screen Shot 2020-05-23 at 9.38.16 AM

who do you tag?

Okay this wasn’t really a question but it made it an even 10 so I’m saying it like this!!! Whoever wants to really – I’m horrible at tagging people!! – but to carry on the five people tradition I’ll say Ash @ Starlight Strands, Memo @ Memo4Books, Paradeabelle @ Rhymes With Paradeabelle, Caitlin @ Caitlin Althea, and Lu @ It’s Lu Again!! Anybody else who wants to though let me know and I’ll add you to the list :)))

Screen Shot 2020-05-23 at 9.38.16 AM

have you done this tag? would you recommend when the moon was ours? should i try and get to the massive books i’m scared of? if you blog on wordpress, are you dreading the new editor as well? any themes/tropes you love in books?

ALSO! hi! if you’re here and reading this, the last question may seem a little odd – but please try and let me know a theme/s or trope/s you love in books! it’s for an upcoming post xx

  1. Ahh this tag is definitely one of my faves to read so I loved reading your answers!
Strange The Dreamer has been on my tbr for literally ages but I also don’t know if I really want to read it anymore? I feel like it’s just the hype that made me buy it and I don’t even know what it’s about haha. Looking forward to reading Love From A to Z though! It sounds like a perfect fluffy read but also has important messages which is always my fave type of book.
& Six of Crows ahhh. Honestly don’t think I’ll shut up about those books because I’ve only just read them (should have listened to the hype sooner) and I’m so obsessed?! I also didn’t realise how long they were because I literally flew through them?

    1. ah yay!! i’m so glad you liked it – feel free to say i tagged you if you haven’t already done it!!
i know my my library has it so when i eventually decide to conquer it i know where it is!! love from a-z i think you’d love – it’s exactly that and it’s adorable!! ahaha six of crows is absolutely amazing – i wish i could go back and read for the first time. thanks for commenting! xx

  2. I was really excited when I first heard about Song of Achilles, because I’ve always wanted an Achilles/Patroclus retelling, but I’m just not sure if I’ll like it. :\ And it’s so long that I kind of don’t want to take the risk? But on the other hand, Achilles/Patroclus…

As for tropes I like in books, I really like underhanded, scheming, and trickster-type characters (especially when they’re girls, because I feel like I’ve run across more male characters like that and I want more trickster girls, darn it!). There are a lot of tropes I like, though, but I’d say that one is pretty high on the list.

  3. thank you so much for nominating me, Rhi 😭😭💖 I really want to do this tag! I just recently finished The Henna Wars and I loved it ❤ I was so skeptical about whether I was gonna like it because I don't have a great track record with contemporary novels, especially debuts. But I finished reading the book in basically a day, and it was cute while also tackling incredibly important issues! Also, I'm intimidated by The Song of Achilles as well… It's so well-loved that I don't know what I'll do if I hate it

  4. i also have pretty much all the posts for june scheduled out, and i don’t even want to think about what will happen once the wordpress editor changes for good. i will probably cry for twenty minutes because i have no idea how to use the new one, lol, and it will take a lot longer to edit posts now, i just *know it*.

i really don’t know if i should keep when the moon was ours on my TBR, because likewise, i’ve been meaning to read it since forever, and if i haven’t until now, it’s probably because i don’t actually want to, right? hahah. i don’t know why i am so weirdly intimidated by it.

i did find song of achilles to be disappointing, but i know SO many people who love this book, so maybe you’ll enjoy it too! i will say, though, if you’re intimidated by it because of the size, i actually ended up reading this book in less than a week, so it’s not as dense as you may think!

(SO excited for darius the great deserves better, even though i believe it will center on a love triangle, which is not my favorite trope, but i trust this author enough that i will love this one as well! and i hadn’t even heard of nobleman’s guide to scandals and shipwrecks! i love the montague siblings, i am so excited we’ll have a new addition to this series!)

hope you enjoy your re-read of ari & dante this summer!

    1. aah at the moment i’ve found a workaround so i still have the old one!! i’m thrilled honestly – i tried writing a post in the new one and i couldn’t figure it out AT ALL so i went back haha.

i only got a copy recently (online) but i think i’ll try and read it soon (provided it’s queer for pride) because it sounds incredible!! let me know if you do try it.

oh wow okay!! that’s good to know – i’ll maybe read it?? i don’t kNOW!!!

(i trust adib khorram to break our hearts again so i probably won’t care about the love triangle!! and yes it sounds good and i can’t wait to get it.)

thank you!! it was amazing – and lol i got very confused because it’s winter for me haha!! i cried through it 🥺😭

  6. oh, i really hope you get the chance to read anna-marie mclemore’s books soon!! their writing is just… so so good, and i’ve loved every single one of their books 🥺 (and yes to reading evelyn hugo too!!) also don’t be intimidated by the length of the song of achilles! it’s an average length i think, or it’s at least definitely shorter than the other ones you listed haha. but u should be intimidated because it’ll break your heart >:)) (read it anyways!!) i had so much fun reading this post, rhi!! ❤

  7. Um, I LOVE Strange the Dreamer and City of Brass. DEFINITELY worth the time and effort. XD As for tropes I love, I have no idea if you’ve already done that post – but I love fake romances, and any book with a competition or heist is an immediate win for me (and yes, I recently read Six of Crows and loved it). It just doesn’t get better than that!
